Email Marketing has always had mixed reviews depending on who you ask and whether they have had any success from using it.
We believe that if you put the time and effort into understanding a few basic things you can really make use of Email as part of a comprehensive Online Marketing Strategy.
The key things to think about before starting to design an HTML email are as follows:
- Be crystal clear why you are sending the email out.
- Have some key goals in mind, what do you want the recipients to do with your email? Call you, sign-up, click a link?
- Ensure that you only send it out to a well thought out database of recipients, preferably already warmed-up to you as a business.
- Set your expectations on the response rate.
- How regular will this be? Weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually?
- Measure, track, report, improve.
- Follow-up. Don’t just send one email and leave it at that. It may take 5 – 10 emails before someone takes action. Or you could follow up with a call with the recipients that actually spend some time on your email or click through.
