Conversion Optimisation is an important part of understand what is going on with your website and how to improve the rate at which you achieve a specific goal.

It is simply not good enough to have a great looking website that gains traffic any more, there is a necessity to be able to understand what those visitors are doing once they reach your website and what actions they are taking whilst they are navigating your site.

There are many great software packages, tools and apps that give you a great platform to be able to track your online activity, identify some of the key areas for improvement, set specific goals then test and implement changes and improvements that look to achieve those goals.

When we talk about a Conversion, remember that the term ‘Conversion’ may not be the same for every business, for example here are just a small selection of potential Conversions you may have identified as a business:

  • A File or document download
  • A Newsletter sign-up
  • A Click-to-Call Action
  • An Online Sale
  • An Impression or Engagement
  • A Button or Links Click

Also a Conversion may consist of a number of steps that culminate to the ultimate goal or conversion, as opposed to just one step or goal.

Whatever your interpretation of an Online Conversion is, make sure you put the time in to ensure that it is achievable, relevant, meaningful and tangible, also that it is valuable to you as a business.

Once you have these Conversions in place it will make the process of optimising and improving the conversion rates much easier.
